One of the biggest advantages is that PSIR overlaps a lot with General Studies (GS), especially GS Paper 2 (Polity and International Relations).
This made overall preparation much easier because we don’t have to start from scratch with an entirely new subject. Plus, learning core PSIR concepts like sovereignty, realism, and justice really helps not just in PSIR but also in Essay and Ethics (GS Paper 4).
There’s plenty of good study material, books, and test series out there, which makes things more manageable. It is also noticed that PSIR has a strong track record—each year, many toppers and successful candidates have taken PSIR as Optional subject.
